The future of connected objects
A look at why every important object in your life will have a digital identity — and why that's good as long as you control it.
20 years ago, when you lost something, you lost it forever. Today, almost every phone on earth carries an NFC reader and a camera that scans QR codes. The infrastructure to connect physical objects to the digital world already exists; what was missing was an identity layer that respects privacy.
The problem with "trackers"
Traditional trackers (the kind you clip to your keys) solve one problem but create others: their batteries die, they depend on closed proximity networks, and — most importantly — you don't control who sees where your object is. Anyone with access to the ecosystem can infer movement patterns.
GoTaggle doesn't track. We don't want to know where your backpack is at 3pm on a Wednesday. We only activate identity when someone chooses to scan.
Decentralized identity for objects
The idea is simple: every important object in your life (backpack, laptop, instrument, pet, keys) gets a digital ID you can:
- Bind and unbind at will.
- Transfer when you sell the object (without the new owner inheriting your history).
- Switch off if you decide you're done.
Where this is going
In the next few months, GoTaggle is expanding into:
- Premium NTAG 424 tags with cryptographic proof of ownership.
- Family and business accounts to manage inventories.
- Public API so insurers and resellers can verify ownership without paper invoices.
The future isn't your objects tracking you. It's your objects able to defend themselves when they're separated from you.
